- JYE'S JAM WITH ANDY JAMES -
It’s not everyday you receive an invite from Australian snowboarding genius Jye Kearney to ride the countries most infamous handrail right within resort boundaries.
The Friday Flats DFD (Down-flat-down) has claimed many of riders in its time, with only a few successful sessions going down. Which meant when riders gathered in the Thredbo village last Thursday, the rail was ripe for the picking.
Jye Kearney, who at only 23 is a living legend of snowboarding handpicked a tight-knit crew of riders to lay the rail to rest. Rockwell rider Andy James received the call-up and boy did he deliver with an onslaught of rail wizardry including taming the buckling kink with a front board. A trick which alluded the now world famous park builder and former pro-Charles Beckinsale who paid in blood with his attempts back in 2007.
Andy continued to slay the rail with a position perfect gap switch backlip and then back it up further with a back 270 back out to switch. Louif style. It no wonder the rail didn’t spontaneously combust after pulling out those stops. Despite this, Victorian rider Harry Green still snagged the win after putting together one of the most solid and well-versed performances seen in any kind of snowboard event on Australian soil.
